Vishakha Shah

Biography : Born into a large family in India, Vishakha Shah relocated to the United States over 30 years ago. Although she always had a deep interest in art, life’s responsibilities put that passion on hold until 2017, when she returned to painting with renewed dedication. Starting with acrylics, her natural curiosity soon led her to explore watercolors, gouache, charcoal, oil pastel and various mixed media.

Artist Statement : I create to express myself. Art gives me the language I need when words fall short. I’m drawn to ethnic themes, florals, landscapes, and portraits especially those that capture the unexpected or the unusual. These moments in everyday life inspire me and often become the focal point of my work. My style leans toward realism, with occasional ventures into abstraction when the subject calls for it. Each piece is a reflection of something that moves me something I saw or felt that needed to live on canvas.
